Importance Of Prayer And What Happens When We Don’t
In the morning, Lord, You hear my voice in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait. Psalm 53:3 (NIV)
The Importance of Prayer
Prayer is our communication with the Creator of the Universe! What a privilege we have when we bring our cares, concerns, and requests and lay them at the Father’s throne.
By simply bowing our hearts with a meek spirit, we can receive forgiveness of sin, a blessing for condemnation, and courage for fear.
When we pray, we open up the pathway between God and us, allowing Him to do some incredible things in our lives and us.
Three Reasons to Pray
- Prayer changes us -Philippians 4:6-7
- Prayer protects us -Psalm 143:1
- Prayer draws us closer to God -Psalm 145:18
What Happens When We Don’t pray
We live in a crazy world. Business, home life, finances, and people all add to our stress levels. If we do not go to Him in prayer, there is no telling how the day will be.
You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. -James 4:2-3
What Happens When We Do Pray
However, when we seek God’s guidance first and put our desires and selfish ambitions behind God’s perfect will, we will experience supernatural help from our Father. The Spirit does the work for us!
Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. -Romans 8:26
